Don’t Do “The Creep”

by

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLPZmPaHme0

There she is, the lone libertarian girl in the room. She’s ready for an intellectual property debate or a discussion about Hayek but before she can say “Austrian economics” you’re in the seat next to her, straightening your bow tie asking her out for a drink that night.

He’s cute and the way he says “seasteading” has you swooning. You cross, uncross, and recross your legs, never breaking eye contact. You laugh at all his spontaneous order jokes and “casually” mention which floor you’re staying on.

How many times have you ever been in this position as the creepee or, let’s be honest, the creeper? I don’t know how many libertarian events I’ve gone to where I’ve seen these scenarios play out over and over again.

Yes, confidence is sexy, but remember that no one wants to constantly fend off a gang of creeps.

If you’re at a libertarian event, your primary focus should be on the event and not hooking up. Constantly trying to get with the most attractive person in the room is going to seal your reputation as a creep and damage your professional image.

That’s not to say you can’t ever get a guy or girl’s number, but don’t force it; let it happen spontaneously.
